About Our February Nonprofit Partner:
100% of Fairfax CASA’s budget is raised through donations, grants, and events. Last year, advocates provided focused, personalized, and reliable advocacy to more 400 Fairfax County children entangled in the child welfare system. These children experience chaos and change. Their CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) is often the one consistent adult in their life, while their case is open. Most cases last an average of 24 months, but the Fairfax office has had three cases last longer than 10 years ... two with the same CASAs from the beginning until the children aged out of the system.
February Goal:
This project goal is to provide CASA with 125 gift cards in addition to the funding for CASA to purchase cards needed for a full year of birthday giving.
Members can support this project by contributing funds through Grapevine or contribute Target, Walmart, or VISA gift cards (denominations of $25 or $50) which will be collected and given to CASA Fairfax. Members can bring gift cards to the social event on February 23rd at 6pm, or email Diane Dondershine (diane.dondershine@gmail.com) to arrange pick up or drop off.
Grapevine Funds will be used in two important ways:
To provide Birthday gift cards to children ($25 under 10, $50 over 10). This gift allows the children to make choices at a time they have very little autonomy or certainty.
One thousand dollars will support the young mothers served by CASA.
How You Can Participate:
Purchase $25 or $50 gift cards to Target, Walmart, or VISA/Mastercard and bring to the Feb 23 event -OR- make an additional contribution of funds through Grapevine. Optional: Use this link to have your gift card purchase recorded in Grapevine.
Attend Social and Learn at Shanyn McNulty's home in Vienna, on Monday, February 23rd, at 6:30 pm to deliver any cards purchased, hear from Fairfax CASA leadership, and engage in a favorite book exchange! Bring a copy (used/new) of your favorite book to share with members and leave with a new read!
