August: Fight Veteran Homelessness with Operation Renewed Hope Foundation
July: Summer Vacation Means Summer Grants
We issued grants to four deserving local nonprofits:
Second Story provides safe havens and opportunities to local at-risk youth.
Willing Warriors provide cost-free retreat stays and programs to wounded, ill, and injured service members, disabled Veterans, and their families.
Centreville Immigration supports immigrants in need through job skills and English training, legal advice and more.
Friends of Guest House helps formerly incarcerated women successfully reenter the community.
June: Bringing Resources and Period Dignity to Women in Need with B.R.A.W.S. and The Free Period Pantry!
We raised $5,260.55 in total donations and assembled period packs to support two wonderful local organizations that serve women and girls in need of period products. Representatives from B.R.A.W.S. and The Little Period Pantry shared the difficult truths of costs and lack of resources for women in need of menstrual products.
May: Rebuilding Lives and Restoring Dignity to Moms of Newborns with Women Giving Back (WGB)
We assembled 50 diaper bags for WGB, and, with our members' in-kind and monetary donations, purchased the diaper bags and all the essentials for mom and baby! We also supported WGB's Spring/Summer Clothing Drive by collecting "like new" items for women and children at our social. Our May project raised $6,825 for this amazing organization that is supporting women and children in crisis.
April: Learning How to Dance in the Rain with Sweet Julia Grace Foundation
Sweet Julia Grace Foundation (SJGF) mission is to bless, celebrate, and love children who are medically fragile, have complex special/medical needs, or are currently facing a medical crisis. S4G sponsored and assembled 50 care bags for SJGF’s Hospital Program, and, with our members' Grapevine donations, supported SJGF's Rainy Day Fund —a lifeline that provides immediate support to families facing difficult moments while caring for their children. Our April project raised over $6,000 to support the SJGF community so families do not have to face the unimaginable alone.
March: Teaching Empathy and Inclusion to Students
Through in-kind donations for supplies, a grant for curriculum and training, and volunteer hours, S4G gave 4 Title I schools access to the powerful, in-demand Walk In My Shoes (WIMS) program. The WIMS program gives kids knowledge, perspective, and new tools for including others who may feel isolated because of a variety of challenges, such as allergies, English language barriers, ADHD, dyslexia, visual impairment, and sensory disorders. Our donations totalled $5,097, empowering WIMS to do more as it celebrates its 10th year!
February: $6K Raised to Support Those Impacted by Substance Abuse
Our project with the Chris Atwood Foundation resulted in 200 Winter Comfort Kits for people fighting opioid addiction. In total we raised $6,000, including $2,399 in in-kind donations for the Winter Comfort Kits and a grant of $3,601 to CAF’s Basic Needs Fund. We also visited the CAF Community Center, where members learned about CAF's critical work in the community and received Narcan training.
January: Hope and Healing for Abused Children
Together we raised $4,980 in financial and in-kind donations for SafeSpot Children's Advocacy Center! Financial donations will provide 200 meals for two pilot support groups for teen victims of child abuse and their caregivers. Funds will also be used to provide transportation assistance. Our in-kind donations allowed for the purchase of journals, educational materials, and care items for survivors.
