Bringing Light to Darkness with Our October Non-Profit Partner, DC Candlelighters
About Our Nonprofit Partner:
DC Candlelighters' mission is to provide emotional, educational, practical and financial support to families of children fighting cancer. We provide a light in the darkness, because no family should face the uncertain world of childhood cancer alone.
We will be supporting DC Candlelighters with a social on October 23 and at the DC Candlelighters' annual Halloween Party on October 25th. The party provides the opportunity for children in treatment or finished treatment (and their families) to enjoy a fun-filled afternoon of Halloween themed games, treats and more.
October Goals: The first goal is to create and fulfill an Amazon wish list for prizes and treats to be given out at the Halloween party. The second is to provide gift cards to Candlelighters families for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and bereavement baskets. The third is to provide hands-on help at the Halloween party on October 25th.
How You Can Participate:
Sign up to Volunteer at the annual DC Candlelighters Halloween party on October 25 between 8:30am and 3:00pm (multiple time slots available).
Purchase Treats via Amazon Wishlist. Ship to Mary Michelsen's gift registry address. Deadline: 10/21
RSVP for Social & Learn on October 23, 2025 from 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Vienna. Be ready to prepare baskets, enjoy drinks and snacks, and learn more about The DC Candlelighters! Deadline: 9/16.
Thank you members with recurring Grapevine donations! Your donations will allow DC Candlelighters to purchase gift cards that will be included in bereavement baskets as well as presented to families for the upcoming holiday season.
